HOW TO WEAR A DEEPIKA PADUKONE STYLE SAREE?

If it’s not her ability to display a strong female personality that draws you to her then it’s definitely how she adorns herself in desi clothes; nevertheless Deepika Padukone is remembered for both! Whether you’ve seen her in Bajirao Mastani, Chennai Express or Padmavat, you surely remember Deepika Padukone’s style of draping her saree. She simply has a unique way of making old favorites like Kanjeevaram saree and Banarasi silk sarees, a new and fashionable trend.

Take inspiration from this Bollywood startlet and look like an actress yourself, by draping your saree in the Deepika Padukone style.

Before beginning to wear your saree, start by wearing your blouse and petticoat. Knot it tightly and tuck it into your waist. Now put on your heels. Keep your saree and some safety pins within reach. Begin draping your saree with the following steps:

1. Take the edge of the saree and begin with the first tuck on the right side of your navel.

2. Keep tucking and draping around your waist for one complete turn, going right to left.

3. Once you’re back in the front, gather the pallu and wrap it around you bringing it over your left shoulder. The length of the pallu should be just at or below the back of your left knee.

4. Take the top border of the saree that is sitting loosely around the left side of your waist and pin it neatly just under your navel. This fabric should be sitting loosely not pulled in tightly.

5. Begin pleating your saree, going right to left. Make small and neat pleats.

6. Once the pleats are formed, gather and smoothen them out. Pin them altogether and tuck in the first top two inches of your pleats just below your navel.

7. Remove the pallu and begin to make small pleats.

8. Place these pleats over your left shoulder. Secure them there with a safety pin to the inside of your blouse. Don’t forget to pin them to the back of your blouse as well.

9. Now the length of your pallu will be shorter, above the left knee.

10. The border sitting at the left side of your waist will automatically sit diagonally across your waist.

11. Now smoothen out the pleats in the front and the rest of the saree.

Now you’re ready to attend your party like a fashionista in a Deepika Padukone style saree drape.
